About Me

I’m a communicator at heart.

I began my professional career as a journalist, serving as the public’s eyes and ears to the goings-on of local governments around the country. After nearly a decade spent pointing out the problems, I’m ready to shape the solutions.

I have a passion for service.

Even in grade school, I volunteered my time to make a difference in the community around me. I believe that each of us has something to give, and I believe in the power of collective action. I want to bring that empowering energy to City Hall and to our neighborhoods.

I’ve lived the challenges our city faces.

When I moved back to my native Dane County after several years away, I struggled to find a place to live that I could afford. Through sheer luck, I found an apartment at the last minute — and a few months later, I was able to buy my first home in the Swan Creek neighborhood. A little over two years later, I’m not sure if I could buy that same condo with how quickly home prices have risen. It shouldn’t take luck to find stability and success in our community.

I have experience.

Working in an environment that requires being able to understand and synthesize complex information under extreme deadlines has prepared me to serve as your alder. I know the questions to ask, I know how to sift and winnow for key points, and I know how to share what’s happening at City Hall with my community. My work on the city’s Transportation and Transit Commission and as the secretary of my condo board has given me hands-on experience advocating for my neighbors and making tough decisions.
