Reigstad kicks off bid for Fitchburg Common Council

Experienced communicator enters local politics with focus on affordable housing, smart growth, and community connectedness

FITCHBURG, Wis. – Logan Reigstad today officially kicked off his campaign to represent District 3 on the Fitchburg Common Council.

A former journalist and Dane County native with a passion for service, Logan offers a unique set of skills that enable him to be a strong advocate and leader for a growing community.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Logan spent the better part of a decade working as a reporter and digital news producer for television stations covering Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Maryland, and South Carolina. As the public’s eyes and ears to how the wheels of local government turned, he quickly learned not only how to digest complex policies and proposals but how to share them with the public in a way that’s easy to understand.

“As a journalist, I highlighted communities’ successes and held elected officials accountable for their missteps,” Logan says. “On the Common Council, I’ll continue to ask tough questions, dive into the details, and work to demystify what’s happening at City Hall so residents of District 3 – and all of Fitchburg – know how their government is working for them. After years of covering the challenges communities across the country have faced, I’m ready to tackle the solutions.”

In addition to his current full-time role as a communications professional at UW-Madison, Logan serves as a member of the Fitchburg Transportation and Transit Commission and as Secretary of the Prairie Park at Swan Creek Condominium Association’s Board of Directors. You’ll also see him running or biking around the city.

If elected, Logan’s key priorities would be:

  • Championing policies that increase both the availability and affordability of housing;

  • Encouraging smart growth that builds a strong tax base and supports both environmental and fiscal sustainability; and

  • Promoting community connections that support strong, safe neighborhoods; empower individuals and groups to implement grassroots solutions; and build a shared sense of identity.

“Our city is at a key point in time, with a well-crafted vision for its future. District 3 is home to most of the growth that has occurred in recent years and is poised to become the heart of Fitchburg’s next chapter,” Logan says. “It’s crucial that the alder representing this area be a collaborative next-generation leader who is committed to bringing all voices together For Fitchburg’s Future.”
